Charming oil on millboard in a 19th Century painted frame. Signed J.H.Shaw and dated 1894.
Shaw flourished at the end of the 19th century and appears to have specialised in interior views of horses, dogs and other animals. Our picture portrays an outhouse scene where a very surprised looking cat is approached by the imperious Mr Hepworth. This is an amusing scene where one is left wondering quite what happened next!
