A Naive Portrait of a Gentleman

A portrait of a gentleman, the sitter wearing his finest apparel Including a silk neckerchief and a finely embroidered waistcoat a costume that was the fashion at the beginning of the 19th century.

His flesh tones are finely detailed with a comprehensive palette of subtle colours. His face quite beautifully rendered. The style of this painting is evocative of the early American portraitists and its frame appears to be original.
