A Documentary Rye Flagon inscribed ‘Moses Roots Sept 1846’

Flagons such as this were filled with beer or cider to quench the thirst of workers in the fields. Though this particular example seems so elaborate that it must have had some commemorative meaning. Another very similar example though without the green jewelling to the handle or the cream coloured piping is in the Hastings museum and dated to the previous year 1845.
