A small oil painting on Oak panel circa 1810 {after Hogarth} A brilliantly executed naïve caricature of ‘The Hearty Good Fellow’ as custom would have it sitting outside the Chequers Inn, with a quart of ale upon the table, while being bought a fresh supply of clay pipes by a spotty child, a cat sitting in the window casement. This is an excellent and humorous rendition of a traditional subject in very good condition the surface displaying some fine craquelure. Title: The Hearty Good Fellow Size: Approx. 9” x 8” Price: £SOLD |
