A Carved Sailor Made 19th Century Peg-Leg

An extremely rare and intriguing early 19th century sailor made peg-leg carved with a long haired Haitian-head wearing a tall hat and smoking a wooden pipe – his eyes struck with nail heads. A figure that possibly represents a Voodoo Priest.

Typical of sailor made articles, such as seam rubbers, caulking mallets and bosun’s starters it has been finished with a black patina.
