A Pin-Cushion Signed & Dated 1884

Composed of a colourful geometry of patchwork centering on a six-pointed star, this ornamental pin-cushion is embellished with a multitude of colourful beaded pins.

These were often made by soldiers & sailors and given as ‘love tokens’, although this particular example is bereft of any such symbols, though fortunately it is signed to its scarlet rear:

“M. E. Ashmole – 1884”
