Six Early Polychrome tiles – Displaying images of man and beasts

By any standards these are an exceptional set of Tin-glazed polychrome tiles. The three painted images of beasts include a caparisoned Lama with a crest upon its side standing on somewhat humanized feet: A perched Owl in the company of other flying birds: A Lion standing on a rocky outcrop.
The images of men include:

  • A cook preparing food upon a trestle table
  • A yokel with a snake catching cowl
  • A Hunter with his horn, voulge and dog

Condition: One tile cracked and glued and repaired to its corner, the other tiles with various chips.
